Exotic & Pocket Pet Care

We’re proud to offer care for a variety of exotic pets and pocket pets, including ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and rats. We also see reptiles such as nonvenomous snakes (corn snakes, ball pythons, garter snakes, and kingsnakes), turtles and tortoises, and lizards (bearded dragons, geckos, iguanas, skinks, and chameleons). Additionally, we welcome amphibians like frogs, toads, axolotls, and salamanders, as well as backyard poultry including chickens, ducks, geese, and guineafowl.

Please note that we are unable to see venomous reptile species, rabies vector species (bats, raccoons, skunks, foxes, bobcats, and coyotes), sugar gliders, squirrels, or parrots and other psittacines (macaws, cockatiels, budgies, amazons, and cockatoos).

Wildlife Care

Dr. Barnes has a particular passion for helping injured wildlife, especially turtles. We’re happy to assist injured wildlife with the exception of squirrels, rabies vector species, and venomous species. Please note that sick or injured wildlife must be surrendered to Needham Animal Hospital for care, and when possible, we will place the animal with a licensed rehabilitator once stable.
